When I first learned the German verb to surface (auftauchen), I got the immediate connection to diving: we surface out of the depths.
A counterpole: surface/depth.
You can “surface” at a party… out of the depths of your home and into the social frenzy.
From March 25 (@21:19 PDT) to March 26 (@23:26 PDT), something is being overlooked or taken for granted or assumed; details are fuzzy. Fuzzy isn’t all bad. Pets can be fuzzy. Fuzzy can feel good on skin.
Close eyes and texturize.
Or make it striped, like this art by Dolan Gaiman.
But on March 26 around 23:26 PDT, there’s another shift… the texture hardens, turns sharp.
Get out our exacto knives. Time to carve away at the curves.
Turn to Kara Walker.
Exacto knife, edge, surface, now sink into the frenzy of polarity.
“Magnetic forces do no work”… let this video inspire you. Watch it and see what kinds of “making” come alive in you. Magnetizing to a source, being “worked-on.”
Or possibly forcing something, getting irritated/annoyed, which converts to another kind of action.
Whatever it is, it will be both sharp and smooth, spikey and knobby.
Share in the comments what you’re working on. I’d like to see what these reports inspire in you, and…
I’ll see you on March 31 again with the next Bound Report.

Just finished shearing the edges of fuzzy paper off some collages Easter cards…the paper itself is rather “embroidered” with flowers woven in somehow…thought I’d never use it…and it’s funny…they just say HAPPY…Easter/spring is implied in all its fuzzy multiplicities of significations… used beautiful luxe papers, including old wrapping paper from a gift I received last year, with images of sweets on it!
Are you talking about Sun moving into the Venus bound of Aries and then Venus sliding from Mercury to to Mars bound of Pisces? I’m starting some embroidery for an astrological garment honoring the upcoming Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. It will be the wonky rose mandala of Mars’ orbit pattern relative to earth in red thread, possibly embellished with my blood since I haven’t embroidered in ages! 🪡🩸
