vast
expanding into a starless sky
The other morning, I woke up from the most incredible dream. Behind my friend’s head, blue, green, and orange patches hovered in the sky. I squinted to make sense of it, and stepped back and realized we were floating in space, and those patches were the whole Earth hovering behind her. The spherical shape of the Earth then rose into view, and I began to test the gravity-free zone for flight. Success. But also a tinge of terror. How did we get here? How are we getting back?
Alarm. <wiping my eyes in disbelief.> Wow.
This patch of sky holds an expansive 9-degree bound ruled by Mars. Why on Earth would the lovely sign of Pisces have such a large patch ruled by this dangerous hot head? My guess has to do with what you see when you look at this part of the zodiac, or rather, what you don’t see.
This is a relatively lonely part of our firmament. Void of stars.
How does this relate to the immediate concerns of personal/artistic creativity?
Creating something brand new often carries an edge of the unknown, an opacity that has to be trusted. A comfort in uncertainty. Or maybe not comfort, but the capacity to traverse uncertainty. A hope that precedes an actual knowing. The knowing comes later, once the manifest emerges.
Before the idea is concretized, we risk. We risk the stability of our identity before we become the creator of this newness. It may upend who we think we are, how we feel about ourselves, and the world around us. We risk our creation not succeeding, and becoming a failure, or a lesson to learn from.
In all directions, stepping out into the unknown carries inherent risk. We may resort to astrology to get a grip, to prepare as much as possible for the patterns ahead, and even astrology has these hyperintelligent moments, such as the Mars bound of Pisces that simply say, you gotta go it on your own, and risk the journey, discovery without risk is not discovery.
The starlessness, the lack of guiding light, that hovers in this sector of our zodiacal belt leads us to say, some places are traversable only in the dark, some places are only crossable alone.
Bravery. Astonishment.
If you go into the void with terror, you are met with terror. If you enter the expanse with a sense of adventure, you will have an adventure. The two fish of Pisces are tied together with a knot, called Al Rescha. When we struggle, we cause more struggling, when we love, we cause more loving. When we talk about people behind their backs, people talk about us behind our backs. And on and on. Mars’s sheild reveals a deep mirror here. How you engage it, is how you experience this sector. What you see reflected to you is what you are shining.
There are no distractions. Projections fail to score an audience.
One last image, that feeling before a new human gets born, the anticipation of the entire family shifting to add this new being into the fold. The not knowing of what they look like, sound like, are like, coupled with the expectant fantasies of possibility before they are concretized in mortal form.
That’s the vibe.
In happy news, CAELi has 48 of 555 supporters now. I’m working on the next CAELi Review to go out ASAP for all the new friends who have joined. You’ll see fresh work by Ray Grasse, Jenny Montgomery, Nicola Smuts-Allsop, Molly Niffen, and more.
I’m hoping at least 7 more people join soon, so we can celebrate getting to 10% of our total goal. I suspect many of you are waiting for Mercury to go direct before you jump in the pool. If that’s you, plop a comment below to let the spirits of the library know that you’re on the way. Your paper ancestors will thank you.
See you again in a week for the last bound before we ingress into a new astrological year. And if you needed an event to celebrate said ingress, here’s a fantasic offering. by the quality STA: https://skyscript.co.uk/inmundo/summit/ & make sure to let them know I sent you.
